Under Broad Supervision, provide vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities in order to facilitate competitive and integrated employment outcomes. Provides vocational counseling and guidance to determine eligibility for services and to plan, develop, implement and manage a vocationally focused plan for employment for eligible individuals resulting in successful employment outcomes. Manages cases through the rehabilitation process (referral to case closure). Enters data into the case management system and documents to reflect case activity and services provided. Plans, authorizes and provides services in compliance with established polices and procedures. Provides case management services to ensure to correct and timely service provision. Works directly with potentially eligible individuals, applicants and clients following policies and procedures.

* Develops and maintains referral sources * Conducts interviews with VR participants (potentially eligible individuals, applicants and clients * Reviews and interprets education, vocation, psychological and medical information * Travel within caseload assignment area to meet with individuals, providers, partners and other out reach * Determines eligibilty, identifies order of selection, conducts a comprehensive needs assessment, develops an indiviualized plan for employment and authorizes services * Counsels and guides participants throughout the rehabilitation process, including establishing an employment goal, facilitating job search efforts, maintaining contact with clients and moving case to closure * Monitors client movement and ensures timely provision of services * Ensures fiscal responsibility of vocational rehabilitation funds * Documents accurately and timely in AWARE * Observes rules of confidentiality as stated by departmental guidelines in the dissemination and interpretation of test results and other case file information * Provides information to educate the public, other agencies, vendors and potential customers about rehabilitation services

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-tme position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm This position occasionally requries long hours and weekend work

Preferred Education and Experience:

* Current certified rehabilitation counselor credential in good standing. (We will consider applicants who are scheduled to sit for the CRC and those who do not have this credential.) * Candidates for this position must, at minimum, possess a Master Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and/or disability studies, social work, or other closely related behavioral or social science field (psychology, sociology, special education, etc) from an accredited (CACREP) college or university. * One year at a lower level Counselor 1 or position equivalent.

Master's degree in education, counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of professional experience in social work, counseling or equivalent areas OR Bachelor's degree in rehabilitation counseling, social work, or a closely related behavioral or social science field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience OR One year of experience at the lower level Rehabilitation Counselor 2 (SSP061) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions may require specialized certification.
